Cory McAtee is a singer/songwriter and music specialist who loves inspiring and bringing the joy of music to kids of all ages. She plays numerous instruments, and enjoys songwriting, singing, dancing, and creating.  The arts are one of her life passions.  She also has a great love for nature and the outdoors.

Cory began writing music while working with Emmy Award winning songwriter and producer Tim Noah. They were discussing his plans for The Pond Beyond; an outdoor education center that he and his partner Cyndi Soup own in Granite Falls, Washington.  He encouraged Cory to write music, and guided her in the process of songwriting and recording.

She released her first single, "I Want To Go Outside And Play (Steppin' Into the Outside) in May of 2022."  It was recorded, mastered, and mixed by Richard Henderson at Richard Henderson Productions in Federal Way, Washington. It has been played and enjoyed in radio stations, podcasts, and homes around the world! Cory also produced her first video for the song, which can be found on Youtube.

In the spring/summer of 2023, Cory collaborated with Patrick Adams to be a part of the album, Kindies Do the 80's Volume 2!  Cory is featured singing a cover of Bananarama's version of "Venus" with Patrick Adams on backup vocals. This album is full of 80's classics sung by kindie artists, and is so much fun!  It was released  in July of 2023.  She collaborated with him again in April of 2024 to sing a cover of Bananarama's "Cruel Summer" as part of the Kindies Do the 80's Volume 4 album. Both albums are available online wherever music is downloaded and streamed!

Q &A with Cory

At what age did you start to sing?

Cory:  I began singing as soon as I was able to speak!  *Laughs* Maybe a little earlier than that!  I have always loved singing, and enjoy singing wherever I am-whether it's for a performance, or just for fun!  I began singing in theater at the age of 5, performing in many plays through my teens.  I volunteered to sing solos in my music classes as a child, and sang with some different choral groups in college. Singing is such a great way to express yourself!  And it's so much fun to do!

You play a lot of different instruments too!  What was the first instrument that you learned how to play?

Cory:  I played on a lot of pots and pans and toy instruments when I was a kid.  When I was in the 5th grade, I learned how to play the clarinet!  In middle school, I started taking piano lessons.  In high school, I expanded my horizons further and learned how to play the saxophone and tuba!  Since then, I have learned how to play a whole bunch of instruments.  I haven't learned how to play the bagpipes yet though-that would be a fun one to try!

What is something that you had always dreamed of doing?

Cory:  Ever since I was a child, I have always wanted to perform.  Whether it was on the stage, in the park, or even the living room!  I have always enjoyed performing.  I've always wanted to write and create my own music and share it!  I'm so excited to be putting it out there-it brings me so much joy to see people enjoying the music that I've created!

What's your favorite color?  Why is it your favorite?

Cory:  Blue!  I love how it's a color of nature-(the sky, water...) It's so soothing and comforting! And beautiful!

What's your favorite food, and why is it your favorite?

Cory: Italian food!  I love spaghetti and lasagna!  Marinara and cheese is such a great combo....yummmmm!

What hobbies do you like best?

Cory: Anything to do with the arts, and nature!  I love making and listening to music, drawing, reading, painting, dancing...I love walking outside and taking in the scenery.  Seeing the wildlife and vegetation...hearing the birds chirping...it's beautiful!

What is your favorite holiday?

Cory:  That would have to be Christmas!  Though so many holidays are fun! Christmas is such a joyful holiday.  It's wonderful to celebrate and spend time with family and friends.

What's your least favorite food?

Cory:  Ha!  Hmm..I'm not really a fan of coconut!

Why do you put music into the world, and what about it is meaningful to you?

Cory:  If my music can make a person feel something... a way to express themselves or their feelings...if it connects with them, or they can relate to it in some way, if it brings them happiness or gives them a way to channel their thoughts or feelings...if it  provides them with fun or memorable experiences, then that brings me so much joy!  I hope that the music I create touches upon others.  I've been writing music that is oriented toward children, but can be enjoyed and appreciated by people of all ages, and it means the world to me to be spreading and sharing the joy of music with you!
